FEEDBACK:
Here are some
comments from couples in the Swindon Catholic Deanery who took The
Marriage Course in early 2009:
·
It has brought
love back into our marriage and amazingly brought God ever
closer to us both and to our family.
·
Helped resolve
issues that were too challenging to deal with throughout our
marriage
·
It’s given us
back our sparkle and dreams
·
Very
worthwhile – it has made a real difference to our
relationship
·
An eye-opener
as to the on-going effort that marriages require
·
Excellent in
every way – a revelation and a validation that we are doing
some bits OK already.
·
A good tool
for lighting up the dead areas of our marriage
·
On so many
levels in every way it has given us tools that we knew about
but admittedly didn’t know how to use.
·
Having donations instead of a charge made it more accessible
to us
·
I feel
privileged to have been given such an opportunity

THE COURSE
The
Marriage Course takes eight evenings, the last of which is a party. Each
evening starts with a brief introduction from a Swindon couple who've taken
the course before, followed by the screening of a DVD with two or more
breaks to allow the couples attending to have private discussions. There
is no group discussion at all. Wine, beer, coffee, tea, chocolates and biscuits are served. The evening
starts at 7:15 for 7:30pm,
and runs until about 9:45pm.
The
Marriage Course was devised by the Anglican Church at Holy Trinity Brompton,
the church that started the Alpha Course. It has been running since 1996
across the U.K. and internationally, with great success. 27 couples have
taken the course in the Swindon Deanery, and feedback has been extremely
positive. A team of eight of these couples will be delivering the course in
2010.
The Marriage
Course is based on Christian principles and practice, but is nevertheless
very respectful of, and helpful to, couples in which only one of the
partners is a Christian.
For more information on the
course, go to:
www.themarriagecourse.org.
To cover expenses, we
provide the opportunity for couples to make a small donation each
session. In
fact each course so far has generated enough money to pay all the expenses
for the
course that has followed.
