Swindon LIFE are pleased to announce
the successful re-launch of its professional counselling and listening
service based at Eldene Surgery in Swindon.
Swindon Life Counselling has
been up and running now for nine months. We offer a non-directive
counselling and skilled listening service to women of all ages who find
themselves with unexpected pregnancy or dealing with pregnancy loss. The
service is run by a clinical psychologist and skilled listener, both
whom have had specialist training in the field of crisis pregnancy,
pregnancy loss and post termination counselling. The charity, LIFE, have
over 30 years experience in offering impartial support, understanding, a
safe place and time to think about the best way forward - so often what
women need at this time.
At an initial appointment we can offer
pregnancy testing, if required, and/or information, listening and
counselling. Whatever the situation we can offer further support in the
form of practical help (baby clothes and equipment), a referral to one
of our LIFE houses, ongoing support with the pregnancy or post
termination counselling. The latter has formed an increasing amount of
our work in recent years and we see women struggling to come to terms
with loss through abortion, miscarriage, stillbirth, ectopic pregnancy
or adoption. Our service is open to referrals and project work with
other charitable organizations and we are currently running a support
group for the local SANDS group - the charity who assist women
following the trauma of stillbirth.
It is common for other family members
to feel distressed about these situations and our confidential service
is open to them too. We can also put clients in touch with LIFE's
Fertility Care Service which offers an ethical, holistic alternative to
IVF. Fertility Care is a system of natural family planning that can help
married couples who want to achieve or avoid a pregnancy.
